The Power of Prayer

“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18:20

As individuals we are called on to pray as a form of communication and to form a relationship with God. We also recognize that God calls on us to pray together as His body. At YLCC we have opportunities to bless and be blessed through prayer.

Altar Prayer Team

The Altar Prayer Team is available during each service to pray for anyone in need of prayer. During each service there is an opportunity to come forward and join a member of this team for private and confidential prayer.

Prayer Chain

This ministry responds to the urgent prayer needs of fellow Christians. The prayer request is received by the team leader who then contacts each team member with the request. The team is set up this way to ensure that all team members receive identical requests and pray as a group. Each ministry member goes before the Lord in faith that He does hear and answer prayers. All prayer requests are kept confidential.

Pray for the Pastors

Our ministry serves to protect our pastoral staff by praying for all facets of their lives on a daily basis. The pastors of our church are in need of our constant prayers. The greater one strives for God’s earthly kingdom, the harder the enemy works to undo all the good pastors achieve. Satan seeks to undermine, corrode, or just plain destroy God’s workers. Through prayer we seek God’s protection and will. It is a documented fact that pastors fare better in their ministry if they have committed prayer support.

National Day of Prayer

Through this ministry we encourage church members to set aside one day each year to pray privately and corporately— for ourselves, our church, our community, and our nation. We set aside the first Thursday in May of each year from 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM for continuous scheduled prayer. Participants in this ministry sign up to pray in 15 minute segments in their home.

We also have a prayer breakfast with special prayers, music, and a guest speaker. All the area churches are invited to join us for this event.

“Intercession is the most perfect form of prayer, in that it is the prayer Christ prays on His throne.” -Andrew Murray
