Opportunity to Serve at YLCC
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various
forms.” 1 Peter 4:10
Greeter – We greet and serve regular attendees and first time visitors, making them feel welcome and helping them prepare for worship. Usher – We provide assistance during worship services: passing out bulletins, greeting attendees, assisting with seating, collecting the offering, counting the congregation attendance, assisting with communion, and assisting with any problems that attendees may have. Communion – This ministry provides the “behind the scenes” detail work for Communion Sundays. We take care of the special set-up arrangements, preparations, serving and clean up afterward. The team is also responsible for purchasing and keeping track of Communion supplies. Visitation – We seek to extend the love, comfort and compassion of Jesus Christ to those who are admitted to the hospital for tests, surgery, therapy or physical healing. They may be confined to their home or even their bed for an extended period of time before they are able to care for themselves. The team is there to offer prayer and encouragement. Stephen’s Ministry – The Stephen ministry is named for the martyr Stephen, one of the first laypersons commissioned by the apostles to perform acts of caring ministry. We care for persons experiencing challenges in their lives. The 50 hour training in Christian caring skills are led by our Stephen Leaders. People Helping People – We serve to encourage and show love to our neighbors, locally and throughout the central valley, by meeting basic needs. We accept donations that people drop off at the church and pick up larger items. Items are then dispersed to those in need. Guest Information – We welcome those who visit our church, answer any questions they may have regarding our church and its ministries, and help them to integrate into the life of the church. A Visitor Outreach Booth is located in the lobby and is available before & after both Sunday morning services. A visitor packet and gift is given to first time visitors. When a visitor fills out a visitor card, a letter from the Pastor is mailed out followed by a phone call or visit if desired. Higher Grounds – This ministry provides coffee and pastries to the congregation on Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. for the first service and at 12:00 noon for the second service. We provide an atmosphere that encourages fellowship with others in our church family and an opportunity for newcomers to meet other attendees. Bulletin Stuffers – We provide information to the church body by preparing bulletins and collating all inserts for the weekly cover. We also fold mailers for special events. Decorating – We create, beautify and maintain our place of worship for God’s glory. We maintain the alter flowers and provide a year round glorifying environment in the main sanctuary through seasonal themes. Library – We organize and maintain a reference and reading library with informational resources for all age groups. The library contains over 5,500 books, videos, DVD's, and cassette tapes just waiting to be borrowed by our church family. Volunteers assist in categorizing, sorting, and filing books. Librarian skills are helpful. Lighted Sign – This ministry informs the congregation and community about upcoming events and provides messages of inspiration. Volunteers give about one hour of their time one week a month to insert the plastic letters onto the lighted sign. Maintenance – This ministry provides an opportunity for professionals involved in various aspects of the building industry to fellowship and serve the church & glorify God through service. We help maintain and improve the church facilities. By using our God-given talents we help the church save on expenses. Newsletter Publication & Postal – We develop and produce publications that support the purposes of the church and bring people to Christ. The newsletter is YLCC’s information source for all church activities. The postal team sorts the newsletter by zip codes and applies address labels. |
